Memorial Day

Memorial Day marks the sacrifices of those serving in the country’s armed forces by remembering those who have died with an Avenue of Flags. Everyone is welcome to attend services at the Dorchester Cemetery and Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Memorial Day. Both services provide a speaker, a wreath is placed on the unknown soldier and each deceased veteran from the area is named, as well as attendance from the Dorchester American Legion Firing Squad. Services are held at 10:00 a.m. for Dorchester and 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill. A service will be held at the Dorchester Community Hall in case of inclement weather. A dinner is held at noon on alternating years, Tabor Hall (2020) and American Legion (2021). Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
